Strawberry Shortcake

Ingredients:
1 large angel food cake ( publix makes awesome ones!)

For the custard:
1 (8oz package of cream cheese, softened
1 (14 0z) can of sweetened condensed milk
1 (12oz) container of whipped topping, thawed (cool whip suggested)

For the glaze:
1 cup sugar
3 tbls cornstarch
3 tbls strawberry gelatin (Jell-o brand)
1 cup water
2 cups fresh medium size strawberries cut in half
5-6 whole strawberries
mint leaves

Directions:
slice cake , using serrated knife horizontally into 3 eaual layers

for custard:
mix together cream cheese, condensed milk and whipped topping in a bowl and set aside

For the glaze:
In a medium saucepan, stir together sugar, cornstarch, and gelatin, add water. cook stirring over medium heat until thick, remove from heat and allow to cool completely, fold in cut strawberries.

for Assembly:
Place 1 layer of cake in a large clear bowl (parfait bowls are perfect) top with a lwayer of glaze, followed by a layer of custard mixutre, REapeat layering in this order for remaining cake, glaze, and custart. Top cake with 5- 6 whole fresh strawberries and fresh mint leaves, set in frig and serve for as a real treat for dessert!!!!

My husband Ray loves strawbery ANYHTHING so it only made sense that I made this for Father's day, I think this one will go down as a family favorite. It is VERY easy to assemble and looks like you spent all day on it!!! GREAT dessert to bring to a dinner party.
